1C tables in SQL: what _Reference, _Document and _Fld mean and how to get readable names

1C stores data in ordinary MS SQL or PostgreSQL tables but names them its own way. Here is how to read these names — and how to stop doing it by hand.

Table names

  • _Reference123 — a catalog (for example, Products).
  • _Document531 — a document; _Document531_VT5010 — its tabular section.
  • _AccumRg22423 — an accumulation register; _InfoRg — an information register.
  • _Enum — an enumeration, _Const — a constant.

Column names

  • _Fld5011 — an attribute; the RRef suffix is a reference, _TYPE/_RTRef a composite type.
  • _Version — row version, changes on every write.
  • _Marked — deletion mark, _Posted — the document is posted.

Where real names come from

The mapping "_Reference123 → Catalog.Products" lives in the configuration metadata. It used to be exported to Excel with a processing and matched by hand.

ETL Sync reads this metadata straight from the 1C 8.2/8.3 database in seconds after connecting. Tables are searchable by name in the web panel and created with readable column names in the warehouse.

Why analytics needs it

  • Analysts build reports without knowing 1C internals.
  • Names update automatically after configuration updates.
  • The same reports work across several 1C databases.
